A Preschool Valentine Craft for Grandma (or Mama!)

A Preschool Valentine Craft for Grandma (or Mama!)

This year, I wanted to have my kids make a special Valentine’s craft for each of their grandmas (and their great-grandma, too). It is not at all hard to find a preschool Valentine craft right now on Pinterest—and in fact, we have already made a pretty cute and super simple Valentine’s Day craft: Celery Heart Stamping. I have also posted about Independent Valentine Activities for preschoolers.

But I wanted these particular Valentine’s cards to really mean something—both for my kids and for the Grandmas.

Over Christmas, we made some handprint Christmas ornaments, which were very well received. So I knew a handprint Valentine craft was a good idea. My kids also say cute and funny things, so I thought it would be fun to add in some things they love about their grandparents.

Mix all of those things together, and that is how we got our 5 Reasons I Love Grandma cards!

Before we get into it, I think you’ll love this FREE Valentine’s Day Activity Pack! It’s filled with coloring pages, mazes, dot-to-dots, symmetrical drawings, and more—PLUS a 14-day countdown calendar with one simple activity to enjoy with your little one each day as you countdown to Valentine’s Day. This particular preschool Valentine craft would be great in a preschool classroom, as it could be easily made into a 5 Reasons I Love Mama card.  Who wouldn’t love to receive one of those?!

To make this preschool Valentine craft:

I painted my preschooler’s hand pink, and he made a hand print on a piece of paper (I folded a large piece of paper like a card and had him use the cover, as I wanted my other 2 to make hand prints inside).

Once the handprint was dried, I painted Sam’s thumb red, and he stamped his thumbprints in the shape of a heart (ish) in the middle of the handprint.

Finally (and this was the fun part), I asked my preschool for 5 reasons why he loved each particular Grandma. His answers were sweet (because you knit me hats, I love your hugs), funny (I love that you give me gummy bears), and downright hilarious (I love playing with your big elastics). I wrote his responses over his handprint, one response for each finger.

Then we stamped the baby’s hand and Madeline’s hand (11) inside the card. I left the babe’s hand just plain, but Madeline added in her five reasons with her handprint.

I know these Grandmas of ours will love their Valentine craft—and I hope they feel the love that my little ones have for them.

This preschool Valentine craft is a great opportunity for little ones to show their appreciation for those who love them, and it makes a darling keepsake as well.

I hope you and yours enjoy this special Valentine’s Day craft!
