When I was introduced to this tea towel apron I instantly fell in love … the simplicity, the practicality … the fact that it takes 10 minutes to make? Perfect! We made these at one of our Waldorf parent and child classes, and I am very excited to share this simple tutorial with you now. Perhaps you have seen this before, but it was new (and amazing) to me!
This tea towel apron could be used for little ones while cooking, baking, or making smoothies (Sam’s Green Smoothies no doubt). It could also be used for crafting. We do a lot of crafting, sometimes a bit messier than others – so I knew this tea towel apron would certainly be put to good use one way or another.
If you think your little one could use one of these sweet aprons I have fantastic news. They are SO easy to make!
Materials for a Tea Towel Apron
– a tea towel
– string and a needle
– yarn or rope
To Make a Tea Towel Apron
This is a 10 minute, 5 step project. Perfect for the busy crafting Mama.
1. Lay out your tea towel with the good side down. Fold back the top two corners like so:
2. Trim some of the corners off leaving an inch or two.
3. fold the cut edge under and then fold the edge down to create the space to thread the yarn and pin. Do for both sides
4. Sew these edge. I simply hand sewed.
5. Braid some yarn, or use a thin rope and thread it through your tea towel apron.
And that is all there is to it! Writing down the tutorial was in fact much trickier then making the tea towel apron – so I do hope it made sense. I promise it is amazingly easy!
These little aprons would be perfect as gifts for little chefs, builders, or crafters and can be customized however you like. If the apron is a bit too long, you could easily fold up the bottom to make little pockets.
I will certainly be on the hunt for some beautiful tea towels now!
